Rosamaría Murillo is a school principal at Ladera Palma Elementary in the La Habra City School District located in La Habra, California. Rosa and her team have worked closely with ATDLE since the inception of the Dual Immersion Program at Arbolita in 2014. Rosamaría earned a BA in English with a minor in Spanish from UC Berkeley; a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a BLCAD emphasis from the LAUSD District Intern Program; an MA with an emphasis in Administrative Leadership from UC Los Angeles. She earned her Ed.D. from California State University at Fullerton on Educational Leadership. Her dissertation “Dual Language Teachers: Personal and Professional Testimonios” helped add to academic research and literature for Dual Language Programs.
Rosamaría continues to advocate for Dual Language programs through her continued leadership within the Dual Language educational community. Ladera Palma Elementary has served as a model Dual Immersion Two Way Program in Orange County. Along with other teacher leaders, Rosamaría has presented at several Dual Language conferences such as La Cosecha, CABE and ATDLE. By working closely with California State University, Fullerton BCLAD teacher training program, Rosamaría continues to contribute to the formation of future bilingual teachers. The vision of Ladera Palma Elementary clearly mirrors her own mission in life: “To inspire and model multilingual, multi-literacy, and multicultural values so that we contribute to a positive and more accepting global community.”
