Margaret PetkiewiczTreasurer - San Jose

Margaret Petkiewicz, Manager of Bilingual Programs and EL Services for San Jose Unified School District in the Curriculum and Instruction department, is a fifteen-year educator with extensive experience as a Two-Way classroom teacher (both 90/10 and 50/50 programs). She began her career as a community organizer and served as co-director of Child to Child Mexico in Oaxaca, Mexico for seven years. When she returned to the US, she served in a variety of roles through her career moving from TWBI classroom teacher to resource teacher, instructional coach and now, manager. She currently oversees the provision of services for English Learners, monitors the implementation of the five elementary TWBI Programs and 10 TBE programs for the district and leads professional training in best practices for dual language education, ELs and literacy development in both languages. Her strong commitment to community development through the development of literacy in two languages for all students is her charge!
