Margaret PetkiewiczAdvisory Board

Margaret Petkiewicz, Manager of Bilingual Programs and EL Services for San Jose Unified School District in the Secondary Curriculum and Instruction department, is a twenty-year educator with extensive experience as a Two-Way classroom teacher (both 90/10 and 50/50 programs). She began her career as a community organizer and served as co-director of Child to Child Mexico in Oaxaca, Mexico for seven years. When she returned to the US, she served in a variety of roles throughout her career moving from TWBI classroom teacher to resource teacher, instructional coach, Elementary C&I Bilingual Manager, TWBI Elementary Principal, and now Secondary Manager. She currently oversees the provision of services for English Learners and monitors the implementation of the five secondary TWBI Programs for the district. She leads professional training in best practices for dual language education, LTELs, and Newcomers, and supports World Language programs including for Heritage Speakers. Her strong commitment to community development through the development of bilingualism and multiculturalism in our students is her charge!
