Scaffolding for Language & Content

Most TWBI/Dual Language students are faced with the challenging and exciting task of simultaneously developing a new or limited language and rigorous academic content. It is imperative that students are given the necessary support and sufficient opportunity to meet these challenging objectives. Participants will learn scaffolding strategies that engage students in actively using academic language to interact with their peers in order to articulate their thinking about academic concepts and topics, therefore encouraging deeper learning, reciprocal teaching, metacognition, and empathy for others.
