Kevin Chavez

Executive Director
Kevin Chavez became the Executive Director of ATDLE on July 1, 2023. As a founding member of the organization, he is committed to creating global citizens who are ready to become our future leaders by providing access to well-articulated, high-quality programs that focus on academic achievement, inclusive practices, and the promotion of positive self-esteem. Kevin has worked in education as a teacher and administrator for over 28 years in the Midwest, South America, and the Bay Area. He holds a BS in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University-Portland. He has worked in education as a classroom teacher, site-based program coordinator, central office instructional coach/teacher on special assignments, and as an administrator. Kevin was most recently the Principal of the Thomas Edison Charter Academy in San Francisco, which offers a 50/50 Dual Language Immersion Program in Spanish and English. His passion and drive are to support teachers, administrators, schools and districts to serve students and families with innovative services and supports that address the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse populations through high quality Two-way and Dual Language Education. Kianna Evans

Office Assistant
Kianna Evans is originally from Palo Alto, California, where she remained until graduating from Palo Alto High School. After graduation, she moved to San Francisco to attend San Francisco State University. While at SFSU, Kianna majored in Criminal Justice Studies and minored in Africana Studies. Her interest in criminal justice reform and ethnic studies led her to pursue a law degree at Santa Clara University. While in law school, Kianna served as a Legal Extern for the Office of the Public Defender in Santa Clara County. Upon graduating from law school, Kianna earned her Juris Doctor degree and received a special certification for her public interest and social justice work. Over the past few years, Kianna served as a JD Advocate, whereupon she helped defend Unlawful Detainer lawsuits for low-income clients. She also spent a year advocating for the special education rights of children with disabilities. Currently, Kianna is pursuing her passion for producing music, art, and wellness events all over the Bay Area. Her passion for curating events and social justice reform is why she is excited to begin her journey with ATDLE. Kianna started her role at ATDLE on March 19, 2025, and is most looking forward to helping with the planning and execution of the upcoming 2025 ATDLE annual conference and other events this year. Stephanie Munoz, BS, CMP, CEM

Meeting Planner
Stephanie Munoz is a professional with a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Business with an emphasis in Marketing, acquired from San Jose State University. Her educational background equips her with the skills necessary to aid associations in crafting effective marketing strategies for conferences and association membership. Stephanie has been an integral part of BTF Enterprises for many years, and in 2014, she and her business partner Shiela took the significant step of purchasing the company from its founder. Currently holding the position of Executive Director for the California Association of Directors of Activities (CADA), Stephanie also serves as the lead meeting manager for the Association of Two-Way Dual Language Education (ATDLE). Stephanie also led the development of VTF by BTF, a Virtual Tradeshow Floorplan designed to assist our clients with managing their tradeshow sales. Stephanie has earned two prestigious certifications that reflect her expertise in the field. She holds the Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) designation, conferred by the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE). Additionally, she has obtained the Certified Meeting Planner Certification (CMP) through the Convention Industry Council (CIC). Beyond her professional commitments, Stephanie is actively engaged in community service. She volunteers as a board member and committee member for the Santa Cruz County Chamber of Commerce, showcasing her dedication to supporting local business and community development. With her diverse skill set and experience, Stephanie Munoz plays a pivotal role in the success of the organizations and events she is associated with.

Betti Phillips, BS

Account Manager
Betti Phillips is an experienced association management professional with a strong background in hospitality and client services. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and a certificate in Early Childhood Education, which gives her a unique blend of organizational insight and people-focused communication skills. With over seven years of experience at BTF Enterprises, Betti has become a vital part of the team. She currently serves as the Junior Account Manager for the California Association of Directors of Activities and as the Account Manager for the Association of Two-Way Dual Language Educators. Her attention to detail and reliability have earned her the nickname “the follow-up queen,” particularly for her skill in managing and collecting outstanding accounts. Betti also leads registration and speaker coordination for the California Welfare Directors Association’s annual conference and plays an active role in streamlining day-to-day operations. Her background in hospitality enhances her ability to provide excellent service and support to clients across multiple sectors.

Sonja Dmello

Bookkeeper
Sonja Dmello is originally from Switzerland where she was trained in banking at UBS. Sonja always loved the ocean and sunny weather and made the move to Santa Cruz where she studied at UCSC and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. Sonja combined her love of critical thinking and numbers and became a contract bookkeeper serving small local businesses. Sonja has been working with BTF Enterprises for over 15 years and has had the opportunity and pleasure of being part of ATDLE’s team since 2018. In her spare time Sonja enjoys learning Spanish and is still quite far from being fluent. Sonja understands the importance and value of language immersion at an early age and is excited about the Two-Way and Dual Language Education ATDLE so passionately and expertly provides.
