Day 1

The Pre-Institutes are not included in the price of your regular registration. Each Pre-Institute allows the participants to delve deeper in topics of great interest! The New Program Institute is designed for new programs, new teachers and new administrators to receive the necessary background in TWBI Education to maximize their learning at this conference. After an overview, teachers and administrators set out to job-alike sessions with master teachers and administrators.

While new programs and special interest groups gather for the pre-institutes, concurrent workshops are offered for teachers and administrators who are experienced in TWBI and wish to delve into methodology and best practices. Lunch is made available in the lobby of the convention center and is “on your own” so that you are ready to hear the Opening General Session at 1:00 pm and continue to afternoon sessions.

-25th Year Celebration Dinner Dance (Semi-formal)

This day focuses on providing participants with information and resources to support the implementation of their target language. Master teachers and administrators will share strategies, materials, curriculum units of study with teachers to support the implementation of your Two-Way Bilingual Immersion classroom and program. The 25th Year Celebration Dinner Dance will be a semi-formal affair so come prepared with your lovely attire and dancing shoes! It should be a wonderful night out in Palm Springs!

The third day of this conference offers workshops and sessions focused on the delivery of Academic English Language Development and strategies to promote student development in reading, writing, speaking and listening in both the target language and English. Master teachers will share their strategies!

About The Conference

ATDLE is proud to host the 25th Annual Two-Way Bilingual Conference in Palm Springs, CA on June 26-28, 2017 at the beautiful Palm Springs Convention Center. 1500 TWBI educators will gather to network, study and share best practices for these three days and celebrate the Silver Anniversary of the TWBI national conference. The conference will gather researchers, master teachers, experienced administrators and exhibitors that will spotlight specifically on your work as a TWBI educator. This should prove to be the largest gathering of TWBI educators in the country!

Pre-Conference Institutes

The Pre-Conference Institutes provide a foundation in the basic elements of Two-Way Bilingual Immersion education. These sessions are intended for educators and school board members that are planning new programs or aligning their existing programs. The institutes provide specific program information, critical features, rationale, and research for the successful implementation of TWBI/DL programs. The four Pre-Conference Institutes planned for this year are:

*Special registration fee is required for the pre-conference institutes.

Registration Fees

All participants and presenters must register in order to receive name badges and additional conference items. We are unable to accept paper or faxed registrations. Please contact Lisa Church with any issues you may have about payment at 916-441-3300.

  • Early Registration (November-April 14, 2017) -$580.00
  • Late Registration (April 15, 2017 – until the conference registration closes) – $615.00
  • Pre-Conference Institutes only – non-attendee – $ 100.00
  • Early Registration: Pre-Conference Institute & Registration (November-April 14, 2017) – $660.00
  • Late Registration: Pre-Conference Institute & Registration – $695.00
  • Student Teacher Fee for student teachers without a contract in 2016-17 – $180.00
  • Teams of 10 teachers or more registering together from one district (November-April 14, 2017) – $550.00 All registrations for teams must be completed at the same time.

Registration payment must be received before June 19, 2017 in order to be accepted into the conference.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations or substitutions can be made online through your confirmation email or can be made in writing and sent either by emailed to Lisa Church at lchurch@m-w-h.com or mailed to: MWH Management Services, 1303 J Street, Suite 520, Sacramento, CA 95814 – attention: Lisa Church by May 20, 2017. No refunds will be honored after May 20, 2017.

The price of registration includes the following five meals

Monday – June 26, 2017 No sit-down meals are provided on Monday. However, lunch kiosks at the convention center, hotel restaurants and nearby restaurants are available within walking distance of the convention center to accommodate our attendees.

Tuesday – June 27, 2017 A continental breakfast, TWBI Award Luncheon and 25th Annual Dinner and Dance is included in the price of registration. Participants must show their badges to enter and be served at each meal event.

Wednesday – June 28, 2017 A continental breakfast and a Networking Luncheon are included in the price of registration. Participants must show their badges to enter and be served at each meal event.

The top 30 exhibitors from throughout the U.S. with trade books, software and curriculum materials for Two-Way and Dual Language Programs will be invited to display their materials and curriculums for you to review and purchase. Bring POs or district/personal checks to purchase materials. We have asked the companies to focus on bringing materials for primary instruction, AELD, cultural competence, common core instruction, literature, software and technology that can be used in TWBI/DL schools and programs.

Direct flights into Palm Springs are available but most state and out of state travelers prefer to fly into the Ontario Airport and drive 45 minutes into Palm Springs to save costs. Please have your date and time of arrival, date and time of departure, where you’d like to rent the car and what class of car you’d like to drive in mind. A credit card is not needed at the time you make the reservation, but will need to be present when you rent the car. A debit card will be accepted at the Airport location only and you must have a return flight itinerary with it. Driver’s License and credit or debit card name must match. If you are returning to a different location than the one you rented the car from, a one way fee may apply.
